POVERTY  OF  A  HEART

Poverty of a heart

Poverty of a spirit and soul,

Body destined to return

Earth decay as gravity continually pulls down,

Youthful beauty and strength quickly fade.

And yet, the inner heart cries out for more

An illusive wealth missing

A rich treasure sensed just out of reach,

But without a hint of true heavenly understanding.

Then comes a whisper in the night

The tug of a dream

Gentle cooing of turtle doves in the day time

As an honest lover wisely woos

With tenderness, gentleness and a soft touch

The lover of our soul draws near

In complete openness

In total compassionate kindness,

A firm hand cups the head and mind

Another wraps about the chest

And a sweet, sweet kiss of truth is given,

Truth about love and life is peacefully made known.

Secrets from the very beginning of creation are made clear

Wisdom and power of creation settle upon the inner mind

Even the revelation of living Words written on pages;

As stark and beautiful butterflies on an ordinary flower,

Intimate friendship made into sparkling jewels.

The comfort of such fellowship warmly blankets

Pure white linens cover the common nakedness,

Proper clothing of the spirit and soul,

A clear mind and a pure heart are born and grow quickly

The love of our God precisely covers

The peace of Messiah Yeshua encloses, fills to overflowing

As eternal riches are now made known

Divine mysteries unfolded,

Every human need satisfied in Him

The yearning and longing  in poverty of spirit

Transformed into priceless wealth and abundance.

A VOICE

A Voice of power speaks,
A thunder of authority is heard by a vast multitude
A great host from all the generations
Centuries of the few who sincerely listen,
From day to day, year to year
Always a few added here, a few added there
Some even faithful to the end,
Steadfast in love
Forgiving, merciful, compassionate
Persevering in every trial
Standing true in the face of the enemy,
Separated from the greater numbers.
The many others listen to eclectic voices
And the sounds whispered within,
Voices of new enlightenment who guide
Apostate religious
Who control, who artfully deceive,
Pretenders of “self within”
Intellectual seducers, vulgar and slovenly.
But the few from every nation, every tribe
Every generation from the beginning
Gather in force, overflow an ocean
Swept up into the power of love
Victorious in every way
Every meaning and concept of real life
Beyond the mere physical,
Eternal youth a precious seal of honor;
A banner of pure love covers the doorway
Sweet and holy presence at the feet
Perfume fills the house
Fragrant love and gratefulness, a most selfless gift.
Communion in lasting covenant
Joined as one in the highest ideal,
The most practical walk of peace and grace
Fills the Universe, fills the heart,
To always care for the needy at hand
Along any road of travel, any road of life
To care for the needy
More than simply physical poverty.

STORMS

Storms come upon us all

Poverty in weakness a plague to endure

Winds from all directions

Sometimes hot, sometimes cold, often bland

In the midst the heart cries

And wonders “Why?” in the light of truth

Even in the very shadow of His hand;

Why we are buffeted along with all others

The rebellious scoffers, stubborn and blasphemers

The mostly apathetic

Those who mock the Holy Name,

Why the winds and pouring rains

Soak and threaten us as well!

Then, we remember the sifting

Destined season of separation

Everyone “salted by fire”,

As the Master clearly declared;

Each day with enough troubles

Understood as well.

Perseverance carries

Endurance brings final triumph,

When the mind is renewed

The Holy Spirit reminds

Every early glimpse of the Heavenly Kingdom

Rushes home

And true knowledge settles upon the Solid Rock, within and nearby.

Present difficulties are as nothing

Compared to the perfection soon seen,

What is slowly unfolding

Most beautiful flower that opens in the most beautiful garden,

Prayers as petals reveal the lasting joy of eternal purpose

Personal meaning brought to Divine completion.
